Environment Policy

The Mount Lawley Golf Club operates, manages and maintains an 18 hole championship golf course and club house facilities for the enjoyment of its members and guests. Set amongst tranquil undulating fairways and surrounded by heavily wooded roughs, the golf club covers 79 hectares. Environmental responsibility is a core value at the Mount Lawley Golf Club and we are committed to the conservation of the environment and ensuring our golf course maintenance activities are managed in an environmentally responsible manner.

To achieve this we will:

  1. Identify and mange environmental aspects within our operations and apply best practice principles to ensure pollution prevention and the conservation of natural resources;
  2. Constantly strive to achieve continual improvement in our environmental performance by making business decisions that work towards sustainable outcomes;
  3. Meet and, where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation, regulations and other requirements to which we subscribe;
  4. Utilise the e-par environmental management system framework to plan, document, measure and monitor environmental performance including setting and assessing environmental objectives and targets and conducting periodic reviews to report on progress;
  5. Continue to recognise the environment, recreational, educational and social significance of golf;
  6. Openly communicate this policy to all employees, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders and make this policy available to the general public and local community;
  7. Foster an environmentally responsible attitude within our organisation by providing appropriate training and competent assessments;
  8. Ensure all those who work for or on behalf of the Mount Lawley Golf Club aspire to our expected standards of environmental performance and behaviour.

Beyond the Fairways | Sustainability Strategy 2022

The Mount Lawley Golf Club is pleased to present Beyond the Fairways (BTF) Sustainability Strategy which is a broad sustainability strategy for the Club.

We are very proud of what we are doing to manage and improve our environment, and it is pleasing to have an independent third-party specialist from Environmental Golf Solutions endorse our work and confirm the Club is at the leading edge of Australian golf clubs.

This is also evident in the fact that we have won the WA Golf Industry Environmental Award for each of the last two years.

The publication covers a range of topics within the sustainability arena ranging from vegetation management, canopy, and water usage, through to responding to climate change.

We encourage you to read Beyond the Fairways Sustainability Strategy and should you have any questions please contact the General Manager – Troy O’Hern on 9271 9622 or email gm@mlgc.org
